How to Update Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with XXLP6 Android 4.0.3 Firmware

Here comes another update for Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 users. This new firmware is an all new update of ICS Android 4.0.3 and is also known as XXLP6 version. Although this update does not support any major enhancements yet there are a variety of performance fixes that make this firmware stable than all other previous builds. This is not an official firmware version released by Samsung Electronics and you do not require to root your phone to apply this update. Applying this firmware will not root your Galaxy S2 and if you have already rooted your phone from before then, the the rooting access will be revoked again after applying this update.

Steps to Update XXLP6 Android 4.0.3 Firmware in Galaxy S2 GT I9100:

Step-1: Download XXLP6 Firmware Package from the Must Have section to your computer and unzip it to your computer or laptop. Match the extracted files with the image given below and if a single file is found missing then check with the extraction or downloading process.

Step-2: Enable USB Debugging Mode in your device from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.

Step-3: Open Odin in your computer and power off your phone to enter your device into Download mode by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. After entering into download mode, a green robot will be displayed in your screen.

Do not proceed to the next step if the phone refuses to get into Download Mode despite repeated attempts.

Step-4: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. It may take 3-4mins for the ID:COM block to install all the drivers hence wait till the process completes. Dont proceed to the next step if the ID:COM block doesn’t turn yellow.

In case the ID: COM doesn’t turn yellow then you need to install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET Framework and update KIES with the latest version so that the missing drivers get installed.

Step-5: Select the corresponding files from the extracted folder and add them in Odin

Step-6: Double check the selected files and tap on “Start” to begin the updation process. After the firmware is successfully updated, the phone will reboot and you will be prompted to enter the Google Account credentials and Internet credentials along with the language settings.

Step-7: As soon as you see the home screen, power off your phone to enter into Recovery mode. The Recovery Mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. In recovery mode, choose “Wipe data/factory reset” > “Wipe Cache partition”  then reboot your device by selecting the option of  ”Reboot system now” with the help of Volume rocker keys.

In case the device boots normally then, you can re-try to enter into Recovery mode. You can check whether the firmware has been updated successfully or not by following the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where you will discover the version of XXLP6 Android 4.0.3 firmware. Restore all data that you had previously taken a backup of and also the APN settings responsible for accessing internet. If the device enters into boot loop mode then you ought to re-apply the procedure again from the beginning.
