XXLA6 Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware Update For Samsung Galaxy Note N7000

We have already checked out the detail procedure on how to update XXLA3 firmware in Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 and now we are here with a new Gingerbread update. This new update is the XXLA6 version and there is no big list of improvements in this build but some issues related to camera and S Note apps have been solved. This is not the official firmware version and is not even a global update but is officially released for European users and is quiet stable.

You do not require to root your device in order to apply this update and if you have already rooted your device from before then after applying this update, the rooting access will get cancelled. Thus those of you who have lost their warranty by rooting can reclaim back their warranty.

We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the updation procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The updation procedure is not recommended for basic users but is for advanced users and is only applicable for Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 that are network unlocked. Do not apply it in any other device as it might not be reversible and may harm the device by blocking it.

Pre Upgrade Instructions for Rooting and Firmware Update

Must Have:

Download XXLA6 Package

Steps to Update XXLA6 Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware in Samsung Galaxy Note N7000:

Step-1: Download XXLA6 Package from the Must Have section  and extract it to your computer. After extraction is over, enable USB Debugging Mode in your device from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging” and tick the option of USB Debugging.

Step-2: Open Odin from the extracted files and power off your device to enter into Download mode by pressing Volume Down keyCenter button and holding both, simultaneously press Power button. If the device boots into Normal mode then re-try to enter into Download Mode by the same process till you are finally there.

Step-3: Once you enter into Download mode connect your device to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. If the device does not get connected then navigate to the path “Settings > Wireless and network > USB Settings > Select Samsung KIES option” and connect to the computer to make ID : COM turn yellow.

Step-4: If the ID : COM section still doesn’t turn yellow, then install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET framework and update the KIES with the latest version to install the missing drivers. Do not proceed to the next step if your device refuses to enter into Download Mode in spite of repeated attempts.

Step-5: In Odin, tap on PDA and choose the file named as “N7000XXLA6_N7000OXXLA1_N7000XXLA4_HOME.tar.md5″ from the extracted folder. Now tap on “Start” to begin the firmware updation process.When you click on “Start” option, the firmware will get successfully applied within a span of 10 minutes and it will restart on its own.

Step-6: When you see the home screen, remove the connected USB Cable and power off the device to enter into Recovery Mode. The Recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume up key + OK button and holding both press the Power button simultaneously. In Recovery mode, select the options of  ”Wipe data/factory reset > Wipe Cache partition” to clear all cache files then select “Reboot system now” option to reboot your device with the help of Volume rocker keys.

Step-7: To confirm whether the firmware has been successfully applied or not navigate to the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where it will display the current firmware as XXLA6 Android 4.0.3 version. If any other version is being displayed then apply the process again from the beginning.

If the process gets stuck somewhere in the middle then, pull out the battery, re-insert it and re-apply the instructions again from the beginning. Thus you can easily update your Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 with the latest XXLA6 Android 4.0.3 version by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
