In this New Year we are here with an all new update for Samsung Galaxy S II GT I9100. We had already covered the detail procedures regarding the installation of XXKP1with Android 4.0 and XXKP2 with Android 4.0.1 firmwares meant for Galaxy SII that worked pretty well. This time Android 4.0.3 is all set to hit the servers. This new firmware is also known as XXKP8 Android 4.0.3. However it is to be noted that this is not an official release from Samsung Electronics and there is no notification as to when this Android 4.0.3 update will be rolled out officially via KIES.
As this is the beta leaked version it will be updated via Odin and not KIES. The best part about this updation procedure is that applying this firmware wont root your device in any manner and if you have already rooted your device from before, then the rooting access will be revoked after applying this update.
We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the updation procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The updation procedure is only applicable to Samsung Galaxy S II GT I9100 smartphones that are network unlocked and not for Galaxy SII I9100G users so do not try it in any other devices as it might not be reversible and will harm the device by blocking it. In case you are not sure about the model number of your phone, you can find it by dialing “*#1234#” in your phone.
You must backup all the user data present in your phone since chances of data loss or corruption are there. Having a backup can help you replace the lost data if any damage occurs. Do not use KIES to back up data since you won’t be able to use KIES after the update as Samsung hasn’t rolled out the support for Galaxy S2 on 4.0 Firmware. Note down the current firmware you are running on from the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where you will discover the version of Android OS. Follow the link posted below to backup and restore all your data easily.
Steps to Update Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 Firmware:
Step-1: Enable USB Debugging from the path “Applications > Settings > Development > USB Debugging”
Download XXKP8 Android 4.0.3 Firmware Package from the Must Have section to your computer, unzip it and place it on the desktop for easy accessibility. After the files are successfully extracted match them with the image given below and if a single file is found missing, download the zip file again.
Step-2: Enable USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging” in case you haven’t done it from before then open Odin .exe from the extracted files and power Off your phone to enter your device into Download mode. The Download mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + (OK)Center button and holding both press Power button simultaneously.
Do not proceed into the next step if the phone refuses to get into the Download mode in spite of repeated attempts.
Step-3: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. It may take 3-4mins for the ID:COM block to install all the drivers hence wait till the process completes. Dont proceed to the next step if the ID:COM block doesn’t turn yellow.
In case the ID: COM doesn’t turn yellow then you need to install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET Framework and update KIES with the latest version so that the missing drivers get installed.
Step-4: Click on the respective tabs in Odin and select the respective files from the extracted folder.

Step-5: Now click on Start. The firmware updation process will start and after the firmware is updated, your phone will restart on its own. Disconnect the USB Cable when you see the home screen after the phone restarts. Power off the phone and enter into Download mode. Connect the phone again to the computer while keeping the Odin opened and select the file mentioned below. Do not choose any other file in any other option.
