Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 got a new update that is Gingerbread 2.3.5 XWKS9 update. Anyone with Samsung Galaxy Ace
S5830 can proceed with the update irrespective of the current firmware they are running on as it is a global release. This update procedure will be performed using Odin flash tool rather than KIES tool since it is not an official but a beta release. The best part of this updation procedure is that it won’t void your warranty nor do you require a rooted phone to apply this update. If you have already rooted your phone from before, then after applying this update, the root access will get revoked again and you need to root your phone again to gain root access.

Steps to Update Samsung Galaxy ACE with XWKS9 Gingerbread 2.3.5:
Step-1: Download Gingerbread 2.3.5 XWKS9 Package to your computer and extract it to the desktop for easy accessibility. After the files are successfully extracted, match them with the image given below and if a single file is found missing, download the zip file again.

Step-2: Power Off your phone and open Odin .exe from the extracted files. Enter your device into download mode by pressing the Volume Down Key + Center button and holding both press Power button simultaneously.

Step-3: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. It may take 3-4mins for the ID:COM block to install all the drivers hence wait till the process completes. Dont proceed to the next step if the ID:COM block doesn’t turn yellow.

Step-4: Click on the respective tabs in Odin as shown below

Select “One Package” option in the Odin

Now click on Start. Now the firmware updation process will start and after the firmware is updated, your phone will restart on its own
Step-5: If the power goes off or the updation process is interrupted due to some unavoidable reasons, re-insert the battery again to enter into Download mode and follow the instructions again from the beginning. Turn Off your phone to enter into recovery mode by pressing Center Key and Power button simultaneously.
Step-6: On entering the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset then select Wipe Cache partition. Now reboot your device by selecting the option “reboot system now” to clear off all cache data present in phone.

After the updation process is complete, you need to configure the APN and MMS Settings to access internet and send MMS Messages. The APN Settings can be configured from the path Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. Now press “Menu” key to configure the “New APN” then go to configure the “MMS Settings”
