Steps to Update Nexus S 4G CDMA with Android 4.0.4 Firmware:
Step-1: Enable USB Debugging in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Make sure to tick the option of USB Debugging.
Download IMM26 Firmware Zip followed by ICS Kernel 4.0.4 from the Must Have section to your computer and connect the smartphone via original USB Cable obtained at purchase time. Copy both the zip files to your phone and make sure not to place them deep into any sub-folders in the phone.
Step-2: Power off your phone to enter into Recovery mode by pressing Volume UP key + OK button and holding both simultaneously press Power button. If the device boots into Normal mode then re-try to enter into Recovery Mode by the same process till you are finally there.
Step-3: In Recovery mode choose the option of “Wipe Data / factory Reset” > “Wipe Cache” and “Clear Dalvik Cache” to clear off all the cache files. In case the device is loaded with any Voodoo tools then disable them as they tend to interrupt during the updation process.
Step-4: Next select “Install zip from sd card” > “Choose zip from sd card” and choose the file named as “Unofficial-IMM26-deodexed-interactive” placed in your phone. As soon as you select the file, the updation process will begin and the entire process will complete in about 5minutes.
Step-5: After the phone is successfully updated, again select “Install zip from sd card” > “Choose zip from sd card” and and choose the file named as “IMM26.7z”. After the updation process is complete, you will again land up in Recovery mode. Choose “++++ Go Back ++++” > “Reboot system now” option to to get back to the main menu and restart the phone.
In case there is an interruption due to any reason, pull out the battery then re insert it and re follow the entire procedure again from the beginning. Thus you can easily update the latest version of ICS Android 4.0.4 in your Nexus S 4G CDMA smartphone by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
