An all new version of Cyanogen Mod9 firmware has arrived for Motorola Droid users. But in order to accommodate this Cyanogen Mod9 firmware in your phone you require to root your device. This new firmware supports the goodness of ICS Android 4.0 firmware but it is not the official firmware version released by Motorola Inc. It is to be noted that this is not a really stable version and there are no change logs of this beta version. This firmware version looks exactly like the ICS Android 4.0 stock firmware with a number of added features.
Most of the features of this new ICS Firmware work except the camera and acclerated video decoding using TI DSP. Most of the Google Apps are installed to /data/vendor. If you are updating from earlier CM9 build use “rm-r/system/*” in recovery console before installation so as to make sure that you don’t run out of space in/system because of previously installed Google Apps.
We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the updation procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The updation procedure is not recommended for basic users but is for advanced users and is only applicable to Motorola Droid smartphones that are network unlocked. Do not apply it in any other device as it might not be reversible and may harm the device by blocking it.
You must backup all the user data present in your phone since chances of data loss or corruption are there. Having a backup will enable you to replace the lost data if any damage occurs. Follow the link posted below to backup and restore all your data easily.
