There is good news for all Motorola Charm users powered by T- Mobile. Gone are the days when you had to abide by the rules of your service provider. Its time you used your phone your way since you have paid for it. You can now apply the latest update on your phone with a working 2G/3G connection. However it is important to note that since this update is having the T mobile SBF, it will upgrade the bootloader thus you won’t be able to bounce back to the current firmware version.
You must backup all the user data present in your phone since chances of data loss or corruption are there. Having a backup can help you replace the lost data if any damage occurs. Follow the link posted below to backup and restore all your data easily.
Steps to Update Motorola Charm with the latest Firmware:
Backup Critical Current Firmware data:
Step-1: Make sure that your Motorola Charm is rooted then download and install Root Explorer from the Must Have section.
Step-2: After installation is complete, open Root Explorer and backup the folder in your computer present in the path “etc\motorola\bp_nvm_default”
Extraction of BP File from SBF that will work with your 2G / 3G Network:
Step-3: Download Motorola Android Depacker and the appropriate sbf file. Extract or open the Motorola Android Depacker and browse through the SBF File. Choose the option of “Split to Folder” that will generate a folder having the same name as that of sbf file.
Step-4: Remove all the split files except the one named as “CG45.smg” (BP Firmware file).
Mod T Mobile SBF:
Step-5: Launch Motorola Android Depacker in your computer and choose the sbf file from the option of “Open From File”. Now tap on “Split to Folder” and surf through the splitted folder.
Step-6: Replace and overwrite the “CG45.smg” with the one from B. Open Motorola Android Depacker > “Open File Folder” > Browse T-Mobile split folder then click on “Compile File” that will generate “firmware.sbf” file with the BP to work along with the phone.
