Steps to Update  MIUI Custom ROM in HTC Evo 4G:

Step-1: Download MIUI Custom ROM from the Must Have section to your computer and connect your HTC 4G to the computer or laptop via USB Cable that you obtained at purchase time. Copy the downloaded zip file to your phone’s SD Card and remove the connected USB Cable after copying is over.

Step-2: Enable USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > USB Debugging” then download and install HTC Sync Drivers in Windows computers since Linux or Mac based computers are not yet supported. Now disable the fast boot by following the path “Settings > Power > Fast boot”.

Step-3: Browse the HTC Beta generator Key site where you will come across an option of  ”Download for Windows” and a file will be prompted to be downloaded. Download it and a notification called “Beta Key” will appear where you need to fill in the details like your operating system, device name, HBOOT version and serial number of your phone. Once you are done, click on “Generate Key”.

Step-4: Connect your device to the computer via USB cable and open the revolutionary beta application downloaded from the above link. Now enter the correct beta key that you got in the above process. The custom recovery image gets installed and S Off is easily achieved thus the phone gets successfully rooted.

Step-5: Power off your phone to enter into Recovery Mode by pressing the Volume Down button and Power button simultaneously. In Recovery mode select ”Install zip from SD Card” > “Choose zip from SD Card” to select the MIUI Custom ROM followed by the Google Apps zip file placed in your phone.

In case you receive an error message as “E: Signature Failed” it indicates that the phone has not been rooted properly and you have to re-apply the rooting procedure again.

Step-6: After the updation process is complete, you will again land up in Recovery mode. Now choose “++++Go Back++++” then “Reboot system now” option to restart the phone.
