This New Year we are here with the beta version of Android 4.0 ICS for LG Optimus GT 540 smartphone. The new beta version is not the official firmware version but is quiet stable. You need to note down the current firmware you are running on, in case you want to bounce back to the default firmware version after having applied this firmware. Unluckily LG won’t be coming up with an Official android 4.0 firmware for Optimus GT 540 smartphone due to some hardware restrictions.
We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the updation procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The updation procedure is only applicable to LG Optimus GT 540 smartphones that are network unlocked so do not try it in any other devices as it might not be reversible and will harm the device by blocking it.
Let’s take a look at some of the noticeable changes that come along with this Beta 3 firmware.

Steps to Update LG Optimus GT 540 with ICS Android 4.0:
Step-1: Root your LG Optimus GT 540 first since this update cannot be applied without rooting then download ICS Android 4.0 Zip Package from the Must Have section to your computer. Connect the smartphone via original USB Cable obtained at purchase time and copy the downloaded zip file to your phone’s SD Card without renaming or modifying it. Enable USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”
Step-2: After copying is done, remove the connected USB Cable and power off your phone to enter into Recovery mode. To enter into Recovery mode power off your phone then after 5 seconds press Home button and while holding it press power on button to start the device in Recovery mode.
Step-3: In Recovery mode choose ”Install zip from SD Card” > “Choose zip from SD Card” then select the ICS Android 4.0 Zip file placed in your phone. It will take about 10mins for the whole updation process to complete.
Step-4: After the updation process is complete, you will again land up in Recovery mode. Now choose “++++Go Back++++” then “Reboot system now” option to reboot the phone.
