Install ICS Update on Galaxy Note i9220 / N7000

Samsung Galaxy Note i9220 has just got the taste of freshly rolled out ICS Build firmware. It is to be noted that this is not the official firmware released by Samsung Electronics but is the test version and applying this firmware will unroot your device if you have already rooted your device from before. Thus there is no chance of losing your warranty after applying this update. This update is also applicable on Galaxy Note N7000 device.

We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the updation procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The updation procedure is not recommended for basic users but is for advanced users and is only applicable for Samsung Galaxy Note i9220 and Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 that are network unlocked. Do not apply it in any other device as it might not be reversible and may harm the device by blocking it.

Steps to Update ICS on Galaxy Note i9220 / N7000:

Step-1: Download all the tools mentioned in the Must Have section  and extract it to your computer. After extraction is over, open Odin and power off your device to enter into Download mode. The Download mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down keyOK button and holding both, simultaneously press Power button. If the device boots into Normal mode then re-try to enter into Download Mode by the same process till you are finally there.

Step-2: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step.

Step-3: In Odin, tap on PDA and choose the file named as “I9220LP1-N7000-ICS-REPACK-1.tar” from the extracted folder. Now tap on “Start” to begin the firmware updation process. After the firmware is successfully applied, it will restart on its own. In case the device gets stuck in the middle, then you have to re-apply the entire procedure again from the beginning.

Step-4: Now disconnect the USB cable and power off the phone to enter into Recovery mode. The Recovery mode can be entered by by pressing Volume Up Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. In Recovery mode, select “Wipe data/factory reset” > “Wipe Cache partition” > “Clear Dalvik Cache” then reboot your device by selecting the option of “Reboot system now”.

Step-5: To confirm whether the firmware has been successfully applied or not navigate to the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where it will display the current firmware as XXLA3 Android 4.0.3 version. If any other version is being displayed then apply the process again from the beginning.

Thus you can easily update your Samsung Galaxy Note i9220 and Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 with the latest XXLA3 Android 4.0.3 version by following the steps mentioned above carefully
