Steps to Update Gingerbread XXKPH 2.3.4 Firmware on Galaxy SL I9003:
Step-1: Download Gingerbread XXKPH Zip File from the Must Have section to your computer and unzip it to your computer or laptop. Match the extracted files with the image given below and if a single file is found missing then check with the extraction or downloading process.
Step-2: Open Odin in your computer and power off your phone to enter your device into Download mode by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. After entering into download mode, a green robot will be displayed. However if the device boots in normal mode then, re-try the process till you are finally there. If in spite of trying for a number of times you are unable to enter into Download mode then, you got to fix the Download mode error for your phone.
Step-3: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened.
Step-4: Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. It may take 3-4mins for the ID:COM block to install all the drivers hence wait till the process completes. Dont proceed to the next step if the ID:COM block doesn’t turn yellow.
In case the ID: COM doesn’t turn yellow then you need to install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET Framework and update KIES with the latest version so that the missing drivers get installed.
Step-5: Select the corresponding files from the extracted folder and add them in Odin

Step-6: Double check the selected files and tap on “Start” to begin the updation process. It will take around 7-10 mins or less than that for the rooting updation process to complete. After the firmware is successfully updated, the phone will reboot and you will be prompted to enter the language settings. Recently it has been found that smartphones whose boot loader is unlocked due to some firmware upgrade will prompt you for some password. So give the password as “12345”.
Step-7: Power off your phone to enter into Recovery mode. The Recovery Mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. In recovery mode, choose “Wipe data/factory reset” > “Wipe Cache partition” then reboot your device by selecting the option of ”Reboot system now” with the help of Volume rocker keys.
