Tutorial to Update Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware in Motorola Droid Razr

An all new build of Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware has arrived for Motorola Droid Razr. We will be checking out on how to apply the update by following the simple steps as mentioned in this article. This new update comes with an enhanced LTE RADIO update followed by blur upgrades like Moto car finder that also comes with blur update. You do not require to root your phone in order to apply this update. This is not the official firmware release by Motorola and we haven’t yet received any notification as to when the official update will arrive.

Steps to Update Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware in Motorola Droid Razr:

Step-1: Enable USB debugging in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” and tick on USB Debugging option. The USB Debugging Mode can be enabled only after disconnecting the phone from computer

Download Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware Package from the Must Have section to your computer. Connect the smartphone via original USB Cable obtained at purchase time and copy the downloaded Gingerbread file to your phone.

Step-2: After copying the file, disconnect the USB Cable and power off the phone to enter into Recovery mode. Now again power on your device and press Volume Up + Volume Down Rocker keys to enter into Recovery mode.

Step-3: In Recovery mode, select “Install zip from sd card” > “Choose zip from sd card” and choose the Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware zip file placed in your phone. It will take about 10 minutes for the entire updation process to complete. After the updation process is complete, you will again land up in Recovery mode. Choose “++++ Go Back ++++” > “Reboot system now” option to reboot the device successfully.

Restore all the data that you had previously taken a backup of and also the APN settings as they are responsible for accessing internet. Thus you can easily update your Motorola Droid Razr smartphone by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
