Update Gingerbread 2.3.1 in HTC Desire

HTC Desire smartphone receives a new update in the form of Gingerbread 2.3.1 version. It is to be noted that this is not the official firmware released by HTC but is the custom ROM that is bound to transform your device into spectacular looking smartphone. This new firmware comes with a number of enhancements which we will be taking a look at in a short while.

Steps to Update Gingerbread 2.3.1 in HTC Desire:

Step-1: Enable USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”. Make sure that USB Debugging option is ticked.

Step-2: Download HTC Sync Drivers from the Must Have section and install it in your Windows based computer since Linux and Mac based systems are not compatible. Disable fast boot option from the path “Settings > Power > Fast boot”. Enter into Recovery mode and choose the option of  “Clear Storage” to remove all cache data.

Step-3: You have root your HTC Desire smartphone to proceed further. Navigate through the link posted below to root your Desire smartphone. Those of you who have already rooted their Desire smartphone can ignore the link and proceed.

Steps to Root HTC Desire

Download and install ROM Manager application from the Must Have section to your Android phone. After ROM Manager is installed select the option of  “Backup” to back up the current official ROM so that if anything goes wrong you can easily bounce back to the original firmware.

Step-4: Next select the option of  “Install ROM from SD Card” after which a number of  options will be diplayed from where you have to choose the zip file placed in your phone. After selecting the file you have to wait for the firmware to get updated.

Step-5: After the firmware is updated, choose the options of  ”+++++Go Back++++” > “Reboot System Now” to restart the phone automatically.

Thus you can easily update the latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.1 firmware in your HTC Desire smartphone by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
