Samsung Galaxy Note is beyond doubt a revolutionary device launched by Samsung Electronics. And now to everyone’s surprise, the OTA update for Galaxy Note is available within a couple of months of its arrival. This new OTA update is not a major update as the ICS Android 4.0 update but is a minor update so it is termed as Schedule update. Samsung has added a note like Swipe screen to unlock at the bottom of the home screen that was not spotted in the existing previous versions. It will also display a bigger unlock image as shown in the image below when your device is unlocked.
South Korean users have also reported the date display change in Calendar and there is an option of screen brightness for web browsing that is the same screen brightness used in all other apps. Thus you can easily optimize and save your phone’s battery power with the screen brightness settings. Nevertheless Galaxy Note being a large sized Android smartphone, has got ample space and thus Samsung has modified the Android OS in order to add numbers while using the keys on Galaxy Note. Steps to Update Galaxy Note via OTA:
Samsung Galaxy Note Europe users will receive an update notification on their device regarding the update. If you receive any such notification then pull down the notification bar where you will find two options that is Install now or Install later. Install now option will provide instant update while Install later will keep on reminding you about the OTA update atleast twice or thrice a day.
Check via Manual Update:
In case you do not receive any updation notification from Samsung, then you can manually check whether any updates are available to you or not anytime from your phone. Navigate to your device’s home screen and click on Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Update then finally tap on Update Android. You must possess an active internet connection in your handset to proceed with the OTA update. The update file is about 70 MB in size and we recommend users to update it via Wi-Fi and not to use their carrier data plans. When you are ready, tap on Update Android and all your updates will be installed automatically. You just have to follow the on screen instructions.
How to Check Software Version in your Phone:
In order to check the software version in your device after having applied the update, navigate to Home screen and click on Menu > Settings > About Phone. Now the built number along with the software number will be displayed. For the time being this update is only for European users and there is 50-50 chance that it might be released periodically or may not be available for some users. The Android 4.0 update will soon roll out for Galaxy Note since it is the prime contender for ICS update from Samsung.
