Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 – Tutorial to Update Android 4.0 XXKP1 Firmware

It time for a Revolution! The new working version of ICS for Galaxy S2 GT I9100 is here. This version is deemed to be almost stable and includes the basic things like Calling, SMS with the Internet working just perfect. However it is to be noted that updating his custom based Kernel will void the warranty.

Pre Upgrade Instructions for Rooting and Firmware Update

Must Have:

ICS Package For Samsung Galaxy S GT

Steps to Update Galaxy S2 with Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 XXKP1 Firmware:

Step-1: Enable the USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.

Download ICS Package For Samsung Galaxy S2 from the Must Have section to your computer, unzip it  and place it on the desktop for easy accessibility. During the extraction process you will be prompted to enter a password so give the password as

Step-2: After the files are successfully extracted, match them with the image given below and if a single file is found missing, download the zip file again.

Step-3: Open Odin .exe from the extracted files and power Off your phone to enter your device into Download mode by pressing the Volume Down Key + (OK)Center button and holding both press Power button simultaneously.

Step-4: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. It may take 3-4mins for the ID:COM block to install all the drivers hence wait till the process completes. Dont proceed to the next step if the ID:COM block doesn’t turn yellow.

Step-5: Click on the respective tabs in Odin as shown below

Now click on Start. Now the firmware updation process will start and after the firmware is updated, your phone will restart on its own. You have to wait for a couple of minutes for the updation process to complete.

Step-6: Disconnect the USB Cable and power off the phone to enter into Download mode. Now connect the phone to computer again while keeping the Odin opened in your computer and select the file mentioned below.

Do not select any other file in any other option.

Step-7: After the phone has updated successfully it will reboot and you will be asked to enter the Language Settings and Google Account credentials to get access to Google powered applications.

Step-8: If you are facing problems related to force close errors then, turn Off your phone and enter into Recovery mode by pressing Volume Down key + OK Button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. If the phone boots normally then repeat the button combination till you enter into Recovery mode.

Now choose wipe data/ factory reset then choose wipe Cache partition and reboot your device by tapping on reboot system now option. It will take about 5mins to clear off all the cache files. Thus by following the above simple steps you can easily update your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9000 with Android 4.0 XXKP1 Firmware. If you are interrupted during the firmware updation process, you will have to reapply the whole process again from the beginning.
