Samsung Galaxy S2 has done it again. An all new version of ICS Android 4.0 firmware is here for Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100. This new fimware known as XXLPH Android 4.0.3 version is not the official firmware released by Samsung Electronics. You do not require to root your smartphone in order to apply this update and if you have already rooted your phone from before, then after applying this update the rooting access will get cancelled.

Steps to Update Android 4.0.3 XXLPH Firmware in Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100:
Step-1: Download XXLPH Android 4.0.3 Package from the Must Have section and extract it to your computer. Match the files obtained after extraction with the image given below and if a single file is found missing, check with the downloading and extraction again. The total size of the downloaded file is 352 MB.
Step-2: After extraction is over, enable USB Debugging Mode in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging” and tick the option of USB Debugging.
Step-3: Open Odin from the extracted files and power off your smartphone to enter into Download mode by pressing Volume Down key+ Center button and holding both, simultaneously press Power button. If the device boots into Normal mode then re-try to enter into Download Mode by the same process till you are finally there.
Step-4: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step.
Do not proceed to the next step if your phone refuses to enter into Download Mode in spite of repeated attempts.
Step-5: Tap on the corresponding options mentioned below and choose the files from the extracted folder
Bootloader – I9100_APBOOT_I9100XXLPH_CL118559_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5,
PDA Tab, and select I9100_CODE_I9100XXLPH_CL118559_REV02_user_low_ship.tar,
Phone Tab, and select MODEM_I9100XXLPH_REV_02_CL1104396.tar
CSC Tab, and select GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXALPH.tar
Now tap on “Start” to begin the firmware updation process. After the firmware is successfully updated it
will reboot on its own and you will be on the new firmware of XXLPH Android 4.0.3 firmware.
Step-6: When you enter the home-screen, disconnect the USB cable and power Off the phone to enter into Recovery Mode. The Recovery Mode can be entered by pressing Volume Up Key + Center button and holding both press Power button simultaneously.
Step-7: In Recovery Mode, select “Wipe data/factory reset” > “Wipe Cache partition” then reboot your device by selecting the option of “Reboot system now”. If the device boots into Normal mode then re-try to enter into Recovery Mode by the same process till you are finally there.
Step-8: To confirm whether the firmware has been successfully applied or not navigate to the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where it will display the current firmware as XXLPH Android 4.0.3 version. If any other version is being displayed then re-apply the process again from the beginning.
Restore back all the data that you had previously taken a back up of and also re-configure the APN settings to access data and internet. If you don’t restore the APN Settings then you wont be able to access internet in your phone through EDGE or 3G
