Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 – Tutorial to Update Android 4.0.3 XXLPB Firmware

Samsung Galaxy SII GT I9100 users are now entitled to receive their February enchantment as an all new version of ICS flavor based on stock firmware is here. This new firmware is known as XXLPB and supports a number of minor enhancements along with a few performance fixes that we will be checking out in a short while.

It is to be noted that this is not the official firmware version released by Samsung Electronics but is the beta leaked version. You do not require to root your phone to apply this update and if you have already updated your smartphone from before then the rooting access will get cancelled after applying this update.

We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the updation procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The updation procedure is not recommended for basic users but is for advanced users and is only applicable to Samsung Galaxy SII GT I9100 smartphones that are network unlocked. Pre Upgrade Instructions for Rooting and Firmware Update

Download XXLPB Android 4.0.3 Firmware ZipDownload PIT File

Steps to Update Android 4.0.3 XXLPB Firmware in Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100:

Step-1: Download XXLPB Android 4.0.3 Firmware Zip followed by PIT File  from the Must Have section to your computer and extract the XXLPB firmware zip file after which you will get four files.

Enable USB Debugging in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Make sure to tick the option of USB Debugging.

Step-2: Open Odin in your computer and power off your phone to enter your device into Download mode by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. If the device powers on in Normal mode then re-try to enter into Download Mode with the same process till you are finally there.

Step-3: Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. It may take 3-4mins for the ID:COM block to install all the drivers hence wait till the process completes. Dont proceed to the next step if the ID:COM block doesn’t turn yellow.

In case the ID: COM doesn’t turn yellow then you need to install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET Framework and update KIES with the latest version so that the missing drivers get installed.

Step-4: Click on the tabs mentioned below in Odin and select the respective files from the extracted files.

Tap on “Start” to begin the firmware updation process after which the device will automatically reboot.

Step-5: After the device completes rebooting, disconnect the USB cable and Power off the phone to enter into Recovery mode. The Recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. In Recovery mode, select “Wipe data/factory reset” > “Wipe Cache partition” then reboot your device by selecting the option of ‘Reboot system now’ using Volume rocker keys.

You can confirm whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not from the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where you will find the version of XXLPB Android 4.0.3 firmware. If you find any other firmware version then re-apply the entire procedure again from the beginning.

Thus you can easily update your Samsung Galaxy SII GT I9100 smartphone with the latest version of XXLPB Android 4.0.3 firmware by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
