HTC My Touch Slide 4G users can now smile as they can taste the flavor of ICS Android 4.0.3 firmware in their precious smartphone. However it is to be noted that this is not the official firmware released by HTC but is the beta leaked version and you must root your phone in order to apply this firmware. Steps to Update Android 4.0.3 Firmware in HTC My Touch 4G Slide:

Step-1: Enable USB Debugging Mode in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging. Make sure that USB Debugging option is ticked.

Next download Android 4.0.3 Package followed by Google Apps Zip Package from the Must Have section to your computer. Connect your phone to the computer via original USB Cable obtained at purchase time and copy the downloaded zip file to your phone’s SD Card. Make sure not to place the file deep into any sub-folders.

Step-2: Now enter the device into Boot loader mode by pressing the Volume up key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously . If the device boots into Normal mode then re-try to enter into Boot loader Mode by the same process till you are finally there.

Step-3: In Boot loader mode choose the option of  “Recovery” to enter the device into Recovery mode. In Recovery mode select “install zip from SD Card” > “choose zip from SD Card” then choose the ICS Android 4.0.3 Zip file followed by “Google Apps” zip file placed in your phone.

Step-4: After the firmware is successfully updated, the device will rebooted or will land up in Recovery screen again. In Recovery mode screen select the option of “++++ Go Back ++++” > “Reboot system now” to reboot the phone. The phone may take longer than the expected time to boot and display the home screen since it’s the first reboot after firmware update.

You can restore back all the data that you had previously taken a backup of and also reconfigure the apn settings to access internet and other crucial data. Thus you can easily update your HTC My Touch Slide 4G smartphone with the latest ICS Android 4.0.3 firmware by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
