It is to be noted that after applying the firmware, the warranty will get void and the only way to reclaim back the lost warranty is by re-applying the official update again.

Steps to Update Android 4.0 Firmware in HP Touch Pad:

Step-1: Download Java Plugin followed by Palm Novacom Driver from the Must Have section to your computer. During the Novacom installation process you have to follow the on screen instructions carefully. Check out for a Universal Novacom installer that will be created in the folder c:\ProgramFiles\Palm Inc.


Step-2: Install all the necessary files such as Acme Installer 2, Cyanogen Mod 9 File, moboot_0.3.5.zip and Google Apps (gapps-ics-20120215-signed.zip) for the Touch Pad in your computer.

Step-3: Place the Acme Installer into the same directory as the Novacom by copying the Acme Installer to the c:\ProgramFiles\Palm Inc folder.

Step-4: Connect your Touch Pad to the computer

via original USB Cable and make sure that mass storage option is enabled in your device. It is to be noted that all the files should be in the same format as downloaded originally. You must not unzip the files.

Step-5: After copying the files, eject the Touch Pad from the computer and disconnect the USB Cable. Next click on the Home button and press the arrow icon to select the “Settings” tab > “Device info” > “Restart”.

Step-6: When the screen goes dark, press and hold the Volume up button till the USB icon is displayed. Now again connect your tablet to the computer and after a minute open the command prompt in your computer by typing “Win + R” followed by “cmd” then press enter.

Step-7: In the command prompt, type ‘CD/’ and press Enter key. Next type in “dir” that will display the list of directories then type “cd program files” > “cd Palm, Inc” and press Enter again.

Step-8: Type in the following command as mentioned below without the inverted comas

“novacom.exe boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2”

The USB icon will disappear and if it doesn’t you have to reboot your computer.

Step-9: If everything goes right, HP Touch Pad will boot in the Moboot. From the Moboot you can easily boot into the Cyanogen mod by pressing the Home button. To navigate into Web OS, reboot to Web OS via Volume up and down keys.

In case the process gets stuck somewhere in the middle then, you have to re-apply the entire procedure again from the beginning. Thus you can easily apply the latest Cyanogen Mod 9 ICS Android 4.0 firmware in your HP Touch Pad tablet by by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
