Since Sony had discontinued its relation with Ericsson, it has launched a number of innovative smartphones. Its recent addition includes the launch of upcoming Sony Xperia Pepper smartphone to the collection of Xperia smartphones. Sony has just made it official and revealed its actual name, that is Sony Xperia Sola.
Xperia Sola is the first ever Android smartphone from the house of Sony to feature the Floating Touch technology. This technology allows users to navigate the web by simply letting their fingers hover above the screen without the need to actually touch the screen. This technology is quiet similar to a mouse pointer. When the desired link is found, it will be highlighted and a simple tap on it will load the page.
This device combines Sony’s new Floating Touch navigation with NFC and Xperia Smart Tags to provide consumers a unique smartphone experience. Both the Smart Tags can be personalized with up to ten different commands to simplify a user’s day-to-day life. Each Smart Tag is pre-configured profile and can be attached anywhere, for example you can instruct your phone to power on its WiFi connection and launch the news app when you walk into the living room or to switch to silent mode and power on the alarm when you move into the bedroom.
Dashed in cool shades of black, white or red, the Sola is housed within a body of 116 x 59 x 9.9 mm in dimension and weighs 107 gms. The front panel boasts of a 3.7-inch TFT touch screen that has the sharp clarity of Reality Display powered by Mobile Bravia Engine. It displays images in a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and comes on-board with xLOUD 3D surround audio system technology that delivers clear loud sound. The internal storage capacity of this phone is 8GB out of which 5GB is accessible to users. The external memory can be expanded up to 32GB via micro SD card slot.
Xperia Sola is powered by Nova Thor dual core chip set having CPU speed of 1 Ghz. It has a STE U8500 Dual core processor along with 512 MB RAM that provides super fast performance and browsing speed. It comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system that can be be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later after it has been launched. It has an un-removable 1320 mAh built in battery that provides 6 hours of talk time and 470 hours of standby. Users who purchase Xperia Sola can easily access the premium services like Sony Entertainment Network where they can watch the latest blockbusters and take advantage of the Wise pilot navigation application that guides users through the navigation system with a voice pattern.
The entire package of Xperia Sola comes with Xperia(TM) Sola, embedded battery, two Smart Tags, stereo headset, charger and micro USB cable for charging.
