Sony Rolls Out ICS for Seven Xperia Smartphones On Schedule

It’s already been six months since the launch of Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich but majority of manufacturers and  carriers are still unable to serve customers with the scrumptious dessert. A number of smartphones and tablets are still waiting for the latest Android OS update across the board.

However Sony has set an example for all other leading manufacturers since the company is all set to roll out ICS upgrade not just for one or two devices but for seven of them at one go. Sony is now rolling out Android 4.0.4 ICS update for Xperia Neo, Xperia Arc, Xperia Pro, Xperia Pro Mini, Xperia Mini, Xperia Active and Live with Walkman smartphones as planned. Previously these smartphones were running on Android version 4.0.3. You can take a look at the screen shot shown below that shows that Xperia Neo V smartphone has been updated to firmware build number 4.1.B.0.431.

Previously Sony had rolled out Android 4.0.4 ICS update for three other smartphones that are Xperia Ray, Xperia Arc S, and Xperia Neo V.

Thus Sony has rolled out Android 4.0.4 ICS update for a total of ten smartphones till now. Since

the updates has been released in batches it is not necessary that all users will get the update notification right away. But you need not worry just get assured that the ICS experience on your Xperia device any time soon.

Users can download the latest version of PC Companion to ensure a successful updation.  You can check out Sony’s message board  to get additional information. The smartphones will be updated to Android 4.0.4 and will run on the kernel 2.6.32. ICS for Xperia P and Xperia U will make its way in the third quarter. Sony Xperia S has already been caught running on Android 4.0, ICS version. Let’s wait for others smartphones from the house of Xperia to have some Ice Cream.
