Samsung is pushing out its boundaries with the launch of an all new Galaxy Tab 310 at the Samsung South West Asia Forum 2012, the latest press conference being held at the Bangkok Covention Centre, Thailand. This latest tablet from the house of Samsu
ng that is the Galaxy Tab 2 a.k.a. Galaxy Tab 310, will be arriving in India in April and if recent reports are to be believed, bears quite a lucrative price tag.
Samsung has announced that the device could be launched for as low as Rs. 23,250. The device had already been announced and showcased at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain earlier this month. As previously noted, this device is pretty identical to Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus already available in the market. Let’s take a peek at the specs and features that come with this tab.
Galaxy Tab 2 has a scratch resistant capacitive TFT 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with a screen resolution of 1024×600 pixels. It features the new PLS (Plane to line switching) technology based display. This technology allows the screen to display better colours, contrast and wider screen viewing angles than the existing IPS technology based displays.
Processor, OS & Camera:
It has a Dual-core processor having CPU speed of 1GHz coupled with 1 GB of DDR 2 RAM to provide better multitasking and faster performance. This 7-inch device comes straight away with the recent ICS Android 4.0 firmware along with TouchWiz interface to offer superb functionality.
It comes with dual cameras, a 3 MP rear camera and a front VGA camera for video conferencing. Full HD video recording is done at 720p resolution at the rate of 30 fps (frames per second).
Connectivity and Multimedia:
It’s connectivity options include 3G (HSPA+ 21Mbps), Wi-Fi direct, GPS (A-GPS) that works with Google Maps, USB and Bluetooth 3.0. Along with the regular GPS (Global Positioning System) based tracking service, Galaxy Tab 2 will also feature Russian Glonass satellite based tracking system for better and accurate tracking. This technology was previously adopted by Sony Ericsson for its smartphone devices.
It supports video formats in the form of MPEG4, H.263, H.264, VC-1, DivX, WMV7, WMV8, WMV9, VP8Format: 3GP, ASF, AVI, MP4, WMV, FLV, MKV and WebM Playback.
Audio formats include MP3, AAC, AC-3, AMR, FLAC, MID, WMA, WAV, OGGMusic Player with Sound Alive. It has built in speakers, mic and ear jack of 3.5 mm.
Battery: This tab comes loaded with 4000 mAh battery that provides an excellent standby time of up to 39 hours.
Galaxy Tab 2 comes with Google Play Store that consists of over 452, 000 applications. It also packs in the goodness of Samsung’s Readers Hub that provides access to an incredible 2 million+ ebooks, 3500 magazines in 25 different languages and more than 2000 newspapers in 51 languages thus making it one of the largest reader’s hub. It also comes with Game Hub, Wi Fi Direct capability, Chat On by default, All Share Play that enables you to access the content directly from the cloud.
Apart from these, it also includes Digital compass, light proximity, accelerometer, Polaris document editor and Live panel. Users can also make outgoing calls and thus communicate freely mixed with great portability.
Availablity & Price:
Galaxy Tab 2 will hit the Indian markets in the month of April and will come in two variants as per the memory that is 16 GB and 32 GB with both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. Affordability is the key and for this reason it’s cost is expected to be around Rs. 23,200 in India. Weighing a mere 345 gms, Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab 2 310 to compete with iPad 2.
