Rooting will void the warranty and the only way to reclaim it back is by re-applying the Official firmware again. Before proceeding into the instructions, you have to make sure that your smartphone is running on XXLPQ 4.0.3 firmware. Follow the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version to check out the current firmware. If any other version is being displayed other than XXLPQ 4.0.3 then you must first update XXLPQ firmware and then proceed with the rooting.

Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy S2 on Official Indian ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware:
Step-1: Enable USB Debugging Mode in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging” and make sure to tick the option of USB Debugging.
Step-2: Download ICS Package from the Must Have section to your computer and extract it. Match the extracted files with the image given below and if a single file is found missing then check with the downloading and extraction again.
Step-3: Open Odin from the extracted files and power off your smartphone to enter into Download mode by pressing Volume
Down key+ Center button and holding both, simultaneously press Power button. A green robot will be displayed indicating that the device has entered into Download mode successfully. If the device boots into Normal mode then re-try to enter into Download Mode by the same process till you are finally there.
Step-4: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID:
COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. If the device does not get connected then navigate to the path “Settings > Wireless and network > USB Settings” then select Samsung KIES option and connect the phone to the computer to make ID : COM turn yellow.
Step-5: If the ID : COM section still doesn’t turn yellow, then install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET framework and update KIES with the latest version to install the missing drivers. Do not proceed to the next step if your phone refuses to enter into Download Mode in spite of repeated attempts.
Step-6: Click on the PDA tab in Odin, and select the file mentioned below
Now tap on “Start” to initiate the firmware updation process that will proceed in the following way as mentioned below.
Step-7: After the rooting process is successfully accomplished, it will restart on its own. When you see the home screen, disconnect the USB Cable and power off the phone to enter into Recovery Mode. The Recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume up key + Ok button and holding both press the Power button simultaneously .
In case the process gets interrupted somewhere in the middle then re-apply the entire process again from the beginning. You can now restore the back up taken in the initial steps. Thus you can easily root your Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone on the latest Android 4.0.3 version by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
