Continuing the post-MWC excitement, Samsung has revealed Galaxy Ace 2, an update to previous year’s Galaxy Ace. Galaxy Ace was introduced officially last month, ahead of Mobile World Congress 2012, but has yet to make its appearance in the market. The smartphone was listed by several UK-based retailers a week after the official announcement, but now its pre-order price has dropped to £250 after one month since its launch.
According to fresh reports, an UK retailer by the name Unlocked Mobiles is now taking pre-orders for Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 smartphone. Three weeks ago, retailers were asking for about £280 that is 440 USD or 340 EUR but now customers can pre-order the smartphone for only £250 that is 390 USD or 300 EUR. However Unlocked Mobiles has confirmed that Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 will start shipping from April 23 and with more than a month until its release, the price might still go lower as we near launch. The Galaxy Ace 2 sports a decent 3.8 inch PLS capacitive touch screen display having a WVGA screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. With a dimension of 118.3mm x 62.2mm x 10.5mm, it weighs 122 grams and comes with 16 M color support. It is equipped with an 800 MHz Dual-core processor, that is the USP of this smartphone. It includes 768MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage with the option to expand memory up to 32 GB via micro SD Card slot.
Galaxy Ace 2 will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system but its hardware configuration, it can be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 version in the months to follow. Video call or chat can be initiated using front facing VGA camera and those passionate about photography can make full use of the 5 MP rear photo snapper that comes with attributes like Auto focus, LED flash and HD video recording at the rate of 720p.
Like any other Android smartphone it comes pre-loaded with media player that supports commonly used audio and video formats. Audio formats include MP3/WAV/eAAC+/FLAC player while Video formats include MP4/H.264/H.263 player. Connectivity options include 3G / 2G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS with Google maps. Other features include HTML browser with Flash
support and many other pre-installed apps such as Picasa, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. It has built-in FM receiver, 3.5mm ear jack and USB 2.0 port.
It’s powerful 1500 mAh Li-ion battery can get the handset to run comfortably for 2 to 3 days of normal
usage. Moreover, the handset comes pre-loaded with a range of Samsung ‘Hubs’ which include social games and music, that provide users with various entertainment and productivity features. Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is expected to hit the shelves in the UK in April and we expect it to be pretty inexpensive by then.
