Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 users can finally heave a sigh of relief as the stable firmware update of Gingerbread 2.3.5 in the form of XXKPN version is now available. Samsung has launched this much awaited stable XXKPN firmware in selected countries only. This rooting process is also applicable to Galaxy S phones running on XXKPN Gingerbread 2.3.5 firmware.
Rooting the phone will void its warranty that can be reclaimed again after you apply the firmware update of XXKPN version. If you are not sure about which version you are running on, go to the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where you will find the Android OS version.

Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy S I9003:
Step-1: Download the XXKPN Gingerbread 2.3.5 Rooting Package. Here you will be asked to enter a password. Enter the password as Coveringandroid.com then extract it using suitable software and place it on desktop for convenience.
Step-2: Match the contents of the extracted zip file with the screen shot given below.
Step-3: Launch the executable Odin file as shown below.
Step-4: Enable USB Debugging in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”.
Step-5: Turn Off your phone and enter into download mode by pressing the Volume Down Key, Center button and power button simultaneously. You can refer to the below mentioned video to know clearly on how to enter download mode.
Step-6: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. When you connect your phone to the computer while keeping the Odin opened the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow.
Step-7: Tap on PDA and select the file mentioned below then tap on “Start” to begin the rooting process. When the rooting process gets over, the phone will reboot on its own. Next enter the language selection and Google credentials.
Step-8: When you see the home screen, turn it Off so that you can enter into recovery mode. Now press Volume Up Key + OK button and Power button simultaneously. Refer to the below mentioned video on how to enter into recovery mode.
Step-9: In recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset then select Wipe Cache partition. Now reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option using Volume and Power buttons.
