Do you own a Samsung Galaxy SL I9003? And already updated your smartphone with Gingerbread XXKPE 2.3.4 firmware? Then now it’s time you proceed to root your Galaxy SL smartphone. Rooting will enable you to customize your device as per your wish so that you can access the system level files. However it is to be noted that rooting will void the warranty but you can reclaim back the warranty by re-applying the default or stock firmware. Make sure that you are running on XXKPE 2.3.4 Gingerbread version from the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where it will display the Android version as XXKPE 2.3.4
We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the rooting procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The rooting procedure is not recommended for basic users but is for advanced users and is only applicable to Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 smartphones that are network unlocked. Do not apply it in any other device having model number like Samsung Galaxy S I9000M as it might not be reversible and may harm the device by blocking it.
Remove the external SD card and SIM card from the phone to prevent any accidental deletion of data. You must backup all the user data present in your phone since chances of data loss or corruption are there. Having a backup will help you to replace the lost data if any damage occurs. Follow the link posted below to backup and restore all your data easily.
Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 on Gingerbread 2.3.4 XXKPE:
Step-1: Download Gingerbread XXKPE 2.3.4 Rooting Package from the Must Have section to your computer and unzip it to your computer or laptop. During the process of extraction it will prompt you to enter the password so give the password as Coveringandroid.com. After extraction, you will find two files one is Odin and the other is tar file that is nothing but the rooting file.
Step-2: Open Odin in your computer and power off your phone to enter your device into Download mode by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened.
Step-3: Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. It may take 3-4mins for the ID:COM block to install all the drivers hence wait till the process completes. Dont proceed to the next step if the ID:COM block doesn’t turn yellow.
In case the ID: COM doesn’t turn yellow then you need to install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET Framework and update KIES with the latest version so that the missing drivers get installed.
Step-4: In Odin click on PDA tab and select the file named as “CF-ROOT – I9003 – Beta.tar”. Double check the selected files and tap on “Start” to begin the updation process. It will take maximum around 1 min or less than that for the rooting process to complete.
Step-5: After the rooting process is complete, you will find two new icons that are CWM and Super User. The CWM is nothing but Clock Work mod Recovery app and the Super User app will be in skull shape. If you see these two apps in your phone it will indicate that the device has been successfully rooted.
Do not clear the cache or wipe data from the Recovery mode for this version or else you will lose the Clock Work Mod App. If your phone gets stuck somewhere in the middle of the procedure then you have to re follow the whole procedure again from the beginning.
Thus you can easily root your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 smartphone running on the latest version of XXKPE 2.3.4 Gingerbread firmware by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
