Users who have already updated their Samsung Galaxy S2 with the recently rolled out XXLPH ICS Android 4.0.3 firmware can now proceed to root your phone on XXLPH firmware. Rooting will enable you to install a variety of custom ROMs and applications that require root access such as Set CPU that help to over clock the processing speeds of your device.
Before progressing into the instructions you have to confirm whether you are on XXLPH firmware or not from the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware version” where it will display the current firmware as XXLPH Android 4.0.3 firmware. In case any other firmware is being displayed then you have to first apply XXLPH Firmware and then proceed with the rooting.
We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the updation procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The updation procedure is not recommended for basic users but is for advanced users and is only applicable on Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 smartphones that are network unlocked. Do not apply it in any other models of Samsung Galaxy S2 or in any other device as it might not be reversible and may harm the device by blocking it.
Backup all user data present in your phone since chances of data loss or corruption are there. Having a backup can help you replace the lost data if any damage occurs. Follow the link posted below to backup and restore all your data easily.
Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy S2 on XXLPH 4.0.3 Firmware:
Step-1: Download XXLPH Rooting Package from the Must Have section and extract it to your computer. Match the files obtained after extraction with the image given below and if a single file is found missing, check with the downloading and extraction again.

Step-3: Open Odin from the extracted files and power off your smartphone to enter into Download mode by pressing Volume Down key+ Center button and holding both, simultaneously press Power button. If the device boots into Normal mode then re-try to enter into Download Mode by the same process till you are finally there.
Step-4: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. If the device does not get connected then navigate to the path “Settings > Wireless and network > USB Settings > Select Samsung KIES option” and connect to the computer to make ID : COM turn yellow.
Step-5: If the ID : COM section still doesn’t turn yellow, then install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET framework and update the KIES with the latest version to install the missing drivers. Do not proceed to the next step if your phone refuses to enter into Download Mode in spite of repeated attempts.
Step-6: In Odin, tap on PDA and choose the file named as “CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPH-v5.2-CWM5″ from the extracted folder. Now tap on “Start” to begin the firmware updation process. After the firmware is successfully applied, it will restart on its own.
Step-7: When you see the home screen, disconnect the USB Cable and power off the phone to enter into Recovery Mode. The Recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume up key + OK button and holding both press the Power button simultaneously . In Recovery mode, select the options of ”Wipe data/factory reset > Wipe Cache partition” then select “Reboot system now” option to reboot your device with the help of Volume rocker keys.
