Tutorial to Root Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 on XWJVU or XWJVZ

Those of you who own Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 running on the latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.6 version be it galaxy s logoXWJVU or XWJVZ firmware can now easily root their smartphones. If you are not confirmed about the firmware you are running on, then you can check it from the path “Settings > About Phone >Firmware Version” where you will find the Android OS and it will show the the firmware as XWJVU/XWJVZ Gingerbread 2.3.6. It is important to note that rooting will void the warranty.


You must backup all the user data present in your phone since chances of data loss or corruption are there. Having a backup can help you replace the lost data if any damage occurs. Follow the link posted below to backup and restore all your data easily.

Pre Upgrade Instructions for Rooting and Firmware Update

Must Have:

CF Root Package for XWJVUCF Root Package for XWJVZOdin Flash Tool

Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 on XWJVU/XWJVZ :

Step-1: Enable USB Debugging from the following path “Applications > Settings > Development > USB Debugging”.

Download appropriate CF Root Package file along with Odin flash Tool and turn Off your phone to enter into Download mode by pressing the Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. If the phone lands up with normal booting then try multiple times till you  get into download mode

Step-2: Once you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened.

Now the drivers will get installed and ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that you can now proceed to the next step. It may take 3-4mins for the ID:COM block to install all the drivers hence wait till the process completes.

Step-3: Click on the “PDA” tab and choose the corresponding PDA file that you got in the extracted folder then click on Start to start the rooting procedure.

Step-4: After Rooting is complete turn Off your phone to enter into recovery mode by pressing Volume Up or Volume  Down Key + OK button and holding both  Power button simultaneously.

Step-5: On entering the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset then select Wipe Cache partition. Now reboot your device by selecting the option “reboot system now” to clear off all cache data present in phone.
