Tutorial to Root LG Optimus V VM670 on Virgin Mobile

LG Optimus V VM670 powered by Virgin Mobile has just arrived and guess what it is already Rootable! Yes you heard it right. You can now easily root your LG Optimus V VM670 and thus customize your phone according to your whims plus install the latest custom ROMs and other applications that require root access. However rooting will void the warranty which seems much less a price to pay compared to the list of features it offers.

Steps to Root LG Optimus V VM670 powered by Virgin Mobile:

Step-1: Enable USB Debugging from the path ”Settings > Applications > Settings >  USB Debugging”

Download all the above tools mentioned in the Must Have section to your computer and extract the Drivers zip file to desktop. After extraction is over, click on it to install Optimus Drivers in your PC.

Step-2: Now unzip Super One Click Rooting tool to the same folder and extract it. Connect your device to the compute via original USB Cable obtained at purchase time. Now copy the downloaded Stock ROM to your phone’s SD Card then from the extracted files tap on Shell Root.

Step-3: Unzip the flash_image.zip and recovery-RA-GNM-thunderc-s-1.1.0.img.zip to the root of your phone’s SD Card and also place the Stock Rooted and Optimized.zip at the root of your phone’s SD Card. Open the Command prompt then open the CMD.exe in your computer and navigate to the folder where adb.exe is present. Next enter the commands mentioned below sequentially.

mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-GNM-thunderc-s-1.1.0.img
reboot recovery

Step-4: After you finish entering the above commands, the phone will reboot in recovery mode. Select the option of “Backup” by navigating with the help f Volume rocker then select “Backup NAND” using Home button. After you are done with it go “back” till you reach Main Menu.

Step-5: In Main Menu tap on Flash zip from SDC and then flash “Stock Rooted and Optimized.zip”. Now choose the option of “wipe Data/Factory Reset” but do not choose the option of “Phone Wipe” as it will completely ruin the phone. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the “Home + Volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously. In case the phone boots into normal mode then try entering into recovery mode using the correct button combinations multiple times.

Thus you can easily root your LG Optimus V VM670 powered by Virgin Mobile by following the above mentioned steps carefully.

      Updated all the links except da ROM… All multiupload links have gone down that is causing a hell lot of issues..:-(
