Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 can now install an all new Semaphore Kernel that comes with a number of added features. In order to install this kernel you must make sure that you are running on XWJVZ Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware. You can check the current firmware from the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where you will discover the current firmware as XWJVZ Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware.
Installing the Semaphore kernel will increase the speed of the device and will enable to convert the existing file system to much faster file system called RFS File system. Installation of this kernel will root your phone which in turn will void the warranty and the only way you can reclaim back the warranty is by re-applying the default or stock firmware of XWJVZ.
We wont be responsible for any harm caused to your device during the updation procedure that is unlikely to happen if you follow the instructions carefully. The updation procedure is not recommended for basic users but is for advanced users and is only applicable to Samsung Galaxy S smartphones that are network unlocked. Do not apply it in any other device as it might not be reversible and may harm the device by blocking it.
You must backup all the user data present in your phone since chances of data loss or corruption are there. Having a backup will help you to replace the lost data if any damage occurs. Follow the link posted below to backup and restore all your data easily.

In case the ID: COM doesn’t turn yellow then you need to install Samsung USB Drivers, .NET Framework and update KIES with the latest version so that the missing drivers get installed.
Step-3: Click on PDA tab and select the file named as “Semaphore_kernel_JVZ_2.1.1”. Double check the selected file and tap on “Start” to begin the updation process. After the kernel is successfully installed, the phone will reboot automatically.
Step-4: Power off your device to enter into Recovery Mode by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button and holding both press Power button simultaneously. In the recovery mode, choose “Wipe data/factory reset” > “Wipe Cache partition” then choose “Clear Dalvik Cache” to clear all all the cache files.
