Tutorial to Install Official Factory Firmware in LG Thrill 4G P925

Good news for those of you who possess a LG Thrill 4G P925 handset. Many users had reported that they wanted to bounce back to the original factory firmware and guess what your patience has been rewarded. Yes LG Thrill 4G P925 users can now bounce back to the default stock firmware with the help of the simple tutorial mentioned in this article.

Steps to Install Official Factory Firmware in LG Thrill 4G P925:

Step-1: First of all root your LG Thrill 4G P925 device then download Recovery Image from the Must Have section to your computer. After downloading is complete, extract the recovery image and enable USB Debugging Mode in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging. Make sure that USB Debugging option is ticked.

Step-2: Connect your device to the computer via USB Cable and open “recovery manager.bat” from the extracted files. Next download LG Flash Package and extract the files to obtain the .kdz file. Uninstall all the LG Drivers installed in your phone and restart the computer.

Step-3: Navigate to the “Drivers” folder present in the the extracted folder and open the “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN36AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3. 6.exe” executable file . From the “Server” folder launch the “shttp3.exe” executable file.

Step-4: An error might pop up at this stage so select the option of  “I agree with this license, and I accept all items” > “Update entry in main menu” > “Add to Startup”. Give the password as “admin” and tap on “Install” to install it. Next choose “Small HTTP Server” from the Start Menu.

Step-5: A new icon will appear on the Task bar so right click on the icon and navigate to “Settings”. Choose the “HTTP” tab and change the “Port” to “9002” then tap on “OK” option located at the top right corner. Go to “C:\shttps” of your hard drive and copy the contents of “WWW Folder” into the “C:\shttps\www” directory.

Step-6: Now go to “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc” on the hard drive and copy the “hosts” file in “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc” to the “ORIG” folder in LG Flash Package. Delete the “hosts” file from “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc” and copy the “hosts” file from the “MOD” folder in LG Flash Package to “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc“.

Step-7: Install “B2CAppSetup.exe” file in the “Software” folder then  launch “Windows Enabler.exe”  in the “FLASHING” folder. A new icon will appear on the task bar so click on the icon and power it on.

Step-8: Choose the “msmxml.msi” file from the “flashing” folder and open the Device manager by following the path mentioned below as per the operating system.

  • For Windows XP – Right Click “My Computer“, click the “Hardware” tab, and select “Device Manager“
  • For Windows Vista/7 – In the Start Menu search bar, type “Recovery Manager” and select it at the top

Step-9: Disconnect the phone and pull out the battery then re-insert the battery and enter the device into Recovery mode. The Recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume up key + Power button simultaneously. Now search for the  new “COM PORT” in the Device manager. All the USB Ports must be active in your device.

Step-10: Open the “UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe” file and go to the .kdz file. From the “Select kdz file” box choose “Normal web upgrade test” > “upgrade start” > “Select country and language” > “Country” > “Different Country” > “Language” to select your Language then tap on “Ok”.

After the  updation process is complete, the phone will automatically reboot. Thus you can easily update your LG Thrill 4G P925 smartphone with the default factory firmware by following the steps mentioned above carefully.
