Samsung Galaxy Y users facing problems regarding DXKJ3 firmware can now have a sigh of relief since we have got a new firmware file known as Gingerbread 2.3.6 with many rectifications. This is the enhanced version as most phones dint get updated by this firmware.

Steps to Update Enhanced Gingerbread 2.3.6 DXKJ3 Package:
Step-1: Enable USB Debugging in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”.
After downloading the Firmware package from the Must Have section, unzip the file. When prompted to enter any password, enter Coveringandroid.com
Step-2: Match the extracted files with the below shown screen capture so that none of the files are missed out. If any file is missing you will have to download and extract it again. The zip file is of 111MB size and it doesnt support MAC or Linux based systems.
Step-3: Open ODIN executable file in your computer from the extracted zip file.
Step-4: Power off your phone to enter your device into download mode by pressing the Volume Down Key + OK button and then holding both simultaneously press Power button. When you enter into download mode connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable while keeping the ODIN opened. The ID: COM will turn yellow indicating that all drivers have been successfully updated and you can select files in Odin.
Step-5: In the Odin, click on the respective tabs and select the files from the extracted zip files.
Step-6: After cross checking the files section, tap on “Start” option to begin the firmware application and once it is finished, your device will restart again to indicate that the updation process has been successfully completed.
To check if the firmware has been successfully updated or not navigate through the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will find the firmware version as DXKJ3 2.3.6 Gingerbread version.
Step-7: Turn Off your phone to enter into recovery mode by pressing Volume Up Key + OK button and while holding both press Power button simultaneously.
On entering the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset then select Wipe Cache partition and reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. This will clear all cache files that cause force close errors in your phone.
