Steps to Install Custom Recovery Image in Huawei U8160 / Vodafone Smart:
Basically there are two steps to install Custom Recovery image in Huawei U8160 / Vodafone Smart Android phone. One is the normal method and other is via ADB method. We will check out each of the procedure in detail. Enable USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”. Make sure that USB Debugging option is ticked.
Normal Method:
Step-1: Download Custom Recovery Image Package followed by Rooting APK File from the Must Have section to your computer and connect your smartphone to the computer via original USB
Cable.
Step-2: Copy both the downloaded zip files to your phone and remove the connected USB Cable after copying is over. Open the APK file to install it and power off your smartphone to enter into Recovery mode.
Step-3: The Recovery mode can be entered by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Power button simultaneously. In case the device power on in Normal mode, re-try to enter into Recovery mode using the correct button combinations till you are finally there.
Step-4: In Recovery mode select the options of “install zip from SD Card” > “choose zip from SD Card” then choose the CWM zip file placed in your smartphone.
Step-5: After the firmware is successfully updated, the device will reboot or will land up in Recovery screen again. In Recovery mode screen select the option of “++++ Go Back ++++” > “Reboot system now” to reboot the phone. In case your smartphone refuses to display the home screen even after 5 minutes of restart then, pull out the battery and re-insert it again.
In case the process gets interrupted somewhere in the middle then re-apply the entire process again from the beginning. You can now restore the back up taken in the initial steps.
ADB Method:
Step-1: Download Supported Files Package from the Must Have section to your computer and unzip it. Open the command prompt or terminal window of your computer and connect your smartphone to the computer via original USB Cable.
Step-2: Now enter the commands mentioned below sequentially one after another.
adb push psneuter /data/local/
adb shell chmod 04775 /data/local/psneuter
adb shell /data/local/psneuter
adb push flash_image /data/local/
adb shell chmod 04775 /data/local/flash_image
adb push recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.4-u8350.img /sdcard/
adb shell /data/local/flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.4-u8160.img
adb reboot recovery
Step-3: After the process completes, your smartphone will reboot into Clockwork Mod Recovery. Disconnect the USB Cable and restart the device.
