Yes you can now update the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in your HTC Desire S. However it is to be noted that this is not the official ICS Android 4.0 release but is the beta leaked version. Steps to Update HTC Desire S with Android 4.0 Firmware:

Step-1: Download Custom Recovery Image and Turn Off S in your HTC Desire S phone. Now download ICS Android 4.0 Package for HTC Desire and Google Apps from the Must Have section to your computer then connect your phone to the computer via official USB Cable. Copy both the downloaded zip files to your phone without modifying or renaming them in any manner.

Step-2: Enable USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Application > Development > USB Debugging”. Now download HTC Sync drivers to your computer and install them. It is to be noted that this step is applicable for Windows computer only as Linux or Mac based computers are not yet supported.

Step-3: Disable Fastboot from the path “Settings > Power > Fastboot” and power off your phone to enter into Recovery mode. Press the Volume Down button then Power On the phone and choose “Recovery” option.

Step-4: Choose the option of “Clear Storage” then “install zip from SD card” and select the ICS Android 4.0 file followed by Google apps file placed in your phone. It will take 5-10mins to apply this update and after the phones is updated it will restart on its own.

Thus by following the above simple steps you can easily update your HTC Desire S with Android 4.0 firmware. If you are interrupted during the firmware updation process, you will have to reapply the whole process again from the beginning.
