Tutorial to Install Android 4.0 Build 4 Firmware in Motorola Droid 3

You can now update Motorola Droid 3 with Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0. This unofficial Build 4.0 firmware is in the droid 3 logoform of Cyanogen MOD9. Even though Motorola hasn’t confirmed anything about the official release of ICS firmware, it is expected to arrive in the first half of 2012. Lets take a look at some of the features that work and some others that dont.

Steps to Update Motorola Droid 3 with ICS Android 4.0:

Step-1: Download ICS Build for Droid 3 Zip Pacakge to your computer and place it in your desktop to avail easy accessibility. Connect your phone to computer via original USB Cable that you got at purchase time and copy the file to your phone’s SD Card without modifying or renaming them.

Step-2: Disconnect the USB Cable and enable USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.

Presuming that you have already rooted your Motorola Droid 3 enter into Recovery mode by pressing the Volume down key and Power button simultaneously. After entering into Recovery mode click on “Recovery” option as shown below.

Step-3: Press Volume down key and select”Clear storage” option using the Power button. Now  choose “Install zip from SD Card” > Choose zip from SD Card”  and choose the ICS zip file placed in your phone. After selecting the file it will take 10mins to complete the process of firmware updation.

Step-4: After the files are successfully applied in Recovery mode, select the option of “++++ Go Back++++” then choose “Reboot System Now” option to restart. If you are interrupted during the firmware updation process, you will have to reapply the whole process again from the beginning.

Thus by following the  simple steps mentioned above you can easily update your Motorola Droid 3 with the latest version of Android 4.0 Build 4 Firmware.
