These tips can be thought of as the first aid or basic things that you can do before handing over your Android device for repair. Booting error can be linked to corrupt Android OS, bad hardware or use of some errant apps. Let’s check out some basic tips that you can follow in case

your Android device doesn’t power on.

Step-1: Reinsert Battery

In case your Android device doesn’t start, pull out the battery from your device and leave it out for atleast 10 seconds. Do not try to remove the battery from those smartphones or tablets that don’t provide the option to remove it. Re-install the battery on your phone and see if it fixes the issue or not. Though this step doesn’t seem to be logical but it works for almost 50 % of the smartphones.

Step-2: Remove Hardware

Sometimes due to some hardware you might not be able to boot your Android device. In case you have a SD card or any other item plugged to your device then disconnect the connected hardware and check if that solves the issue.


Step-3: Power Issues

There might not be enough power since there is a minimum power rating required to turn on your Android device. If you battery doesn’t have sufficient power then it’s pretty clear that it wont power on so you should plug in the power adapter to your device to charge the battery. Avoid using the power adapter connection to a computer or any other device because it is not sufficient to charge your device. Often users opt for USB ports to meet the power requirements of their device that wont work in this case as the battery power is much less.

There also might be a possibility that your battery has gone old or faulty. The only solution to such a problem is to replace your smartphone with a new battery or you can also perform a test by borrowing a battery from a friend who happens to use the same device.

Step-4: Hard Reset

In case you have tried all the steps mentioned above and still couldn’t find a fix then it is time you proceed to the last resort of trouble shooting at home, that is reset your device. Before proceeding into performing the hard reset operation on your smartphone, you must keep in mind that this will erase all the data from your phone memory. Usually there is a provision provided to go with the hardware reset of your phone before it loads.

Navigate through your device’s manual for any specific instructions and get your phone into Recovery mode. For most smartphones it is the combination of Volume Up button and Power button. Samsung smartphone users need to long press the Volume up key + Menu button and holding both along press Power button. After entering into Recovery mode, tap on the options of Wipe Data or Factory Reset and Clear Cache.
