Casio VX – First Android 4.0 Waterproof Tablet Announced

Hatts Off to Casio! This digital watch technology giant has announced an ICS Android 4.0 tablet known as Casio VX. According to recent reports, the tablet was launched at the Retail Business Technology Expo. and is waterproof and dust proof certified

. Wowww aint that really awesome? This device certainly has a lot to offer to tech enthusiasts, Android fans especially, waiting to get a taste of ICS.

Let’s proceed to take a glimpse at it’s features, specs and price details.

Display & Case:

Casio VX portrays the size of a notebook with its 10.1 inch capacitive touch screen display. It comes with a robust case and IP 67 certification that means this tablet is dust as well as water proof. It can survive up to 30 minutes underwater and still perform its normal task.

Camera & Battery:

It has a 5 MP rear camera that can be used for capturing pictures, photos and video recording and a 2 MP front-facing camera for video chats and video calls. It is expected to come with two different variants of battery that is 5000 mAh and 7000 mAh that can provide a back up of up to 12 hours.

OS & Storage:

Casio VX comes with 16 GB internal memory and will feature the recent ICS Android 4.0 version. Further details regarding the processing unit used for this

device as well as memory size haven’t been revealed. However if the company is serious enough to compete with other tablet manufacturers including Apple it might have a 1.5GHz Dual-core CPU along with 2GB of RAM.

Release Date & Price:

The company havent set a fixed release date for this device yet but it is expected to roll out by the end of 2nd quarter this year. VX will be a priced a bit higher in price than Apple’s iPad 3 so we can expect it to be better than the latter.

Casio VX tablet is meant for retail staff and is compatible with card readers, phones with NFC capabilities. With Android 4.0 version in pocket, one can expect Casio device to dominate the Android Tablet market. Let’s hope to see this device next to Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tabs this year. Considering that competition is tough, announcement of this ICS tab seems to be good sign.
