At Google’s big music event in Los Angeles, Jamie Rosenberg, Google’s director of digital content for Android shared the latest figures on the number of activated Android devices around the world along with the activation figures per day. And the statistics seem to be pretty impressive.
According to reports, the number of Android devices activated officially back in May this year was 100 million with the number doubling itself to 200 million in just six months. Every single day an astonishing 550,000 devices are activated. The figures seem to be pretty impressive for a platform that’s been in vogue for just three years from now. Adding on to the icing on top, some 250 million iOS devices have been sold this October. Thus Android and Apple seem to be in a cut throat competition as far as statistical figures are concerned.
Well it seems as if Android is everywhere now. On campus, through the Grocery store, at work or anywhere else in town you can come across an Android device everywhere. Spotting someone with a Droid was exciting and if you saw someone with a Nexus S, you knew you would get along well. Thus figures are finally starting to show and it seems as if every other phone is running on Android which certainly isn’t a bad thing.
Google will never stop pushing Android into the future, inculcating great new features to the blooming OS along with better refined design and features and as expected the numbers will continue to rise. The number of Android devices activated worldwide could be double or triple of what it is now. For now let’s wait and watch until Google IO reveal the next official count and let’s hope that it turns out to be huge.
